Two people die from measles in Pennsylvania

Two individuals in Pennsylvania have died from measles, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced Aug. 25. They are the first deaths from the disease in the state in 35 years. The department said both individuals were unvaccinated. There have been 393 confirmed cases in 28 counties across the state so far this year. Nationwide, there have been 2,777 confirmed cases of measles in 2026, according to the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data from Aug. 21.
